About Aaron J. Weissman
Aaron J. Weissman has practiced in civil and business litigation for over 33 years, emphasizing civil law and motion and appellate practice. A UCLA undergraduate pre-med student, Mr. Weissman earned his J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law in 1980. He was Senior Class President, a member of the UWLA Law Review and his article Television Violence: Censorship and the First Amendment was published in 1980. [12 U.W.L.A.L. Rev. 81 (1980)] Before joining Novian & Novian, LLP in 1995, Mr. Weissman worked with a number of major civil litigation firms including Chase, Rotchford, Drukker & Bogust; Shield & Smith; Liebman, Reiner & McNeil; and Spray, Gould & Bowers, where he practiced in all areas of tort and insurance defense litigation and was a member of each firm’s respective Law & Motion and Appellate Departments. Mr. Weissman has participated in many successful jury and bench trials, as well as numerous successful binding arbitrations. He has also authored and co-authored countless briefs seeking writ and appellate relief on both the State and Federal Appellate level. At Novian, Mr. Weissman focuses primarily on contractual and tort-based business and real estate related litigation on behalf of Novian’s broad base of business clients in arenas as diverse as the hospitality, textile, construction and entertainment industries. Aaron has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell’s peer-review system as “AV” rated. The “AV” rating is Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating for “legal ability” and “faithful adherence to the professional standards of conduct and legal ethics of the legal profession, professional reliability and diligence...." Mr. Weissman was a volunteer Los Angeles Superior Court Mediator for the almost 20 years that the Court’s ADR program operated. This gives him a special and useful perspective as to when and how to approach settlement in the litigation matters he handles. Mr. Weissman has been a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and American Bar Association since 1983, a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association since 2008 and has served as a Volunteer Grader of Moot Court Appellate Briefs for the American Bar Association since 2008. While Mr. Weissman’s commitment to his wife and two adult daughters has long-since replaced his love for competitive tennis, he does find time to enjoy collecting and tasting many a California red wine.
