Napoleon G Tercero III

Prior to the practice of law Napoleon G. Tercero worked 12 years in the insurance industry as a claims adjustor. His duties included investigation, negotiation and litigation supervision for primary and excess carriers, including Aetna Casualty & Surety Company, Cigna (California Union Insurance Company) and Allianz Underwriters Insurance Company. His experience has provided him a unique understanding of the needs of both the insurance industry and those of its insureds. Mr. Tercero began his legal career as an insurance defense attorney. He defended toxic torts, construction defects, automobile accidents and residential premises liability matters. He successfully tried product liability and dental malpractice cases. He also wrote insurance coverage opinions. Among the clients he represented were Tokio Marine & Fire, Jefferson Insurance Company, Topa Insurance Company and AON Reinsurance Agency. Since joining Herzfeld & Rubin LLP in 1991, Mr. Tercero's practice areas expanded to include commercial premises liability and the defense of health care practitioners in the medical practice and elder abuse arenas. He has successfully mediated & arbitrated premises liability and automobile cases. He has also tried medical malpractice cases. His commercial premises liability experience includes security, slip and fall, assault and battery and false imprisonment issues. Mr. Tercero has provided lectured seminars on premises liability issues to Ralphs Grocery Company and Food 4 Less as well as Sedgwick Claims Management Services the third party administrator for Kroger Company. His clients have included Springfield Insurance Company, Highlands Insurance Company, National Farmers Union, SCPIE, Ralphs Grocery Company and some self insured entities. Mr. Tercero who was born in Nicaragua, is a graduate of UCLA and earned his law degree from the University of La Verne College of Law. He has conversational ability in Spanish, Italian, Russian and French.
