About Rodney E. Moss
Rodney Moss is the founding partner of the law firm of Moss & Hovden and has been practicing as a trial lawyer for over 43 years. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School where he was selected for membership in the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society. For five years before being admitted to practice law, he was an adjuster for a large insurance company. Mr. Moss is considered one of the premiere trial lawyers in Southern California, having earned the highest rating of "AV preeminent rated lawyer" by the leading national legal rating service. In the practice of law, he concentrates on serious personal injury and wrongful death cases resulting from auto, truck, and aviation accidents, medical malpractice, products liability, and has obtained verdicts and settlements in thousands of cases for millions of dollars. He researched and appeared on CBS' 60 Minutes segment on plastic surgical malpractice and has authored and published articles and lectured on subjects including medical malpractice in California and client communications, among others. Mr. Moss was honored to have been selected by the Los Angeles leading legal newspaper, The Daily Journal, in their Litigator Profile section. He was a recipient of the Consumer Attorneys of California Recognition as an experienced "Trial Lawyer" in the fields of personal injury, products liability, and professional liability—1995. He also received the honor of being selected as the 2010 Attorney of the Year by the Southeast District Bar Association. Mr. Moss also serves as a mediator and arbitrator for lawyers and litigants involving cases within his specialty. He has completed the Pepperdine University course (42 hours) of "Mediating Litigated Cases" by the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution. For the last 30 years, he has been involved in ADR activities for the Los Angeles and Orange Counties Superior Courts, to wit: mediation of cases with the Los Angeles County Superior Courts; temporary judge and arbitrations for the Orange County Superior Court; he also served as State Bar arbitrator for attorney-client fee disputes (1992-2000). For many years, he has been retained as a private mediator/arbitrator in cases involving personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and products liability, as well as private contract and employment disputes. He is an active member of several legal bar associations, having been president and current member of the Whittier Bar Association, member of the Southeast District Bar Association, as well as Consumer Attorneys of California, Litigation Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles, and the American Association of Justice whose National College of Advocacy has recognized him as an "Advocate of Trial Advocacy". He gives generously of his time to his community, having been past president and current member of the local Kiwanis Club, past president and current member of the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier, past member and board member of the local Red Cross, as well as providing free legal counsel to the local senior center. He is also past chairman and member of the Whittier City Planning Commission (1991-2000).
