T. Giovanni Arbucci

John Arbucci is a senior associate at Blecher Collins & Pepperman who joined the firm in May of 2007. He practices in the areas of antitrust, complex business, and professional liability litigation. Mr. Arbucci was selected as a Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star for Business Litigation in 2015 and 2016. In April 2013, he received a Commendation for Outstanding Legal Prowess from the mayor of the City of Lancaster for obtaining a $3.5 million settlement. Representative Matters Represented company and individual board members in a fraud and breach of fiduciary duty case as against their former chief executive officer and entities controlled by him that provided investment capital at the inception of the business relationship. Obtained $6.5 million damage award and $1 million punitive damage award. Represented a former sponsor of college football bowl games against the National Collegiate Athletic Association alleging interference with prospective economic advantage and unfair competition. After successfully opposing summary judgment served as second chair in a two-week jury trial in the First Circuit of Hawai’i. Following appeal of defense verdict, Intermediate Court of Appeal for the State of Hawaii awarded new trial on unfair competition claim. Represented a class of retired football players in legal malpractice action. Argued against motion to dismiss and was mentioned in The Daily Journal. Assisted in obtaining a favorable settlement for $3.5 million after the matter was dismissed with prejudice in the district court and briefing and oral argument had been completed before the Ninth Circuit. Acted as second chair in two week FINRA arbitration hearing representing a former employee of a major brokerage firm. Obtained a favorable judgment, punitive damage award, and attorney fee award. Argued before Court of Appeal for the State of California, Second Appellate District, Division 8, and successfully obtained reversal of a grant of summary judgment in breach of contract action.
