David Koppa

David is a counselor and advocate. He focuses on communication in representing clients. He explains the procedure, so the client understands what needs to be done. He listens to the client but, he always has an eye towards developing the evidence that may be needed in an adversarial setting. David has over 20 years of experience in family law. In addition to handling many custody cases, he has represented clients in the broad, complex reaches of family law, including military divorce, high asset cases, restraining orders, post-decree, pre-nuptial agreements, guardianships and many other issues. He is experienced in working with the experts that are often needed in family law, including parenting professionals, and financial and valuation experts. David puts much effort and preparation into negotiating a mediated solution to family law conflicts that is consistent with the client’s goals. However, when mediation fails, David is ready to prepare the client and tenaciously advocate for the client in the courtroom. When David is not advocating clients, he is often ballroom dancing with his wife. He enjoys the outdoors, often with his dogs. He has also been a volunteer legal counselor with the El Paso County Bar Association and a volunteer board member with local non-profits.
