John Hummel is a litigator. After graduating from the University of Arkansas School of Law, John moved to Oregon to try cases as a public defender. In this role, John represented out-of-work loggers from rural Oregon and itinerant farm workers. John describes his farm worker clients as the hardest working people he has ever met, and John saw that his out-of-work logger clients lost more than a job when the mills shut down – they lost their identities. These early lessons shaped John’s approach to justice. Every person has a unique story that informs how they arrived in the criminal justice system, either as a defendant or a victim. John assesses people by their entire lives, not solely by the worst day of their lives. John provides this same grace to people engaged in civil litigation. Good people sometimes find themselves in messy situations that require courts to resolve the matters. If John is your attorney, he will have your back throughout the process. After working as a public defender, John was a prosecutor, worked in higher education, international development, and healthcare policy before joining Patrica Jo Stone, P.C. John tries civil cases for our firm. John’s over thirty years of litigation experience ensure that he is prepared to defend you in the courtroom deftly. If you hire John to represent you, John will work with opposing counsel to resolve the case as favorably as possible. Having said that, if we do not reach a settlement agreement to your satisfaction, John is ready to walk into the courtroom with you and fight the good fight. When not litigating cases, John enjoys running on Colorado’s mountain trails, watching sports (go Ducks!), and traveling to Colorado’s mountain town festivals (Telluride’s Blues & Brews Festival is next on his list of must-sees).
