About Sean M. McGuinness
Mr. McGuinness is a partner in the firm's Gaming practice group. His practice focuses primarily on commercial gaming matters in Nevada, Colorado, Iowa and Mississippi, as well tribal gaming matters. He is also involved with Lewis Roca Rothgerber's Bankruptcy practice group in relation to gaming bankruptcy matters. Mr. McGuinness has represented clients with licensing and regulatory matters before the Nevada State Gaming Control Board, the Nevada Gaming Commission, the Colorado Division of Gaming, the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission, the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission, the Mississippi Gaming Commission and the National Indian Gaming Commission. He has also participated in gaming-related matters in other jurisdictions such as California, Canada, Hungary, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Switzerland and Washington. Mr. McGuinness has represented clients in gaming bankruptcy matters, including the Herbst Gaming, Station Casinos, Fitzgeralds Gaming Corporation, the Aladdin Hotel and Casino, and the Resort at Summerlin proceedings. Mr. McGuiness discussed the gaming industry and his practice in a Q&A with Vegas Inc. (formerly In Business Las Vegas). Mr. McGuinness was previously with Beckley Singleton, which partnered with Lewis Roca Rothgerber in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, he was Vice President and General Counsel for The Resort at Summerlin, which was owned by Swiss Casinos (1997-2001), had a private gaming law practice in Mississippi (1994-1997) and served as Compliance Director for the Mississippi Gaming Commission (1992-1993). He got his start in the gaming industry as a law clerk for the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission. He has been named in Nevada Business' 2013 Legal Elite in the "Northern Nevada Best" category, and to their "Top 75" list in 2010-2012. Mr. McGuinness is listed in the 2008-2014 editions of Best Lawyers in America in the category of Gaming Law, listed in the 2008-2013 editions of Chambers USA, and featured in the 2007-2013 editions of Mountain States Super Lawyers and recognized in their 2013 "Top 100" attorneys list.
