Shana D. Velez

Shana Velez is a dedicated attorney with over 18 years of experience in family and juvenile law, as well as criminal defense. Her journey into law began with a desire to assist individuals who faced challenges navigating the legal system. Raised in Denver, Shana's decision to pursue law school stemmed from her aspiration to support those without access to the opportunities she had encountered. Understanding Diverse Legal Needs: With a diverse background as the daughter of a first-generation Peruvian immigrant, Shana possesses a profound understanding of the unique legal needs of culturally diverse communities. Her expertise extends to working with mono-lingual Spanish speakers, Native Americans, and others from various backgrounds. She adeptly guides her clients through the complexities of the American legal system, providing invaluable support during emotionally turbulent periods of their lives. Courtroom Advocacy: Shana demonstrates her legal expertise in the courtroom, where she has refined her skills as a powerful litigator. She has represented clients in various cases, including dissolution of marriage, child custody and support, post-decree modification, domestic violence, and dependency matters. Additionally, Shana has served as a guardian ad litem for children accused of crimes and worked as a public defender, handling cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to serious felonies. Commitment to Community Empowerment: Recognized for her leadership and involvement in the immigrant community, Shana was selected to participate in the Arizona Bar Leadership Institute. She has also shared her legal expertise with the public through appearances on the radio show "Contacto Total," where she provided live answers to listeners' family and criminal defense legal inquiries. Educational Foundation & Hobbies: Shana holds a Juris Doctor from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona.
