About Margaret Donovan
Margaret joined Koskoff after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut. She has also served as a lawyer in the United States Army JAG Corps. With an even-keeled and consistent perspective on complex legal issues, she brings a commitment to accountability in her pursuit of justice. She joined Koskoff in 2024 in support of the firm’s growing firearms litigation practice and other malpractice areas. In 2025, she began representing current and former government officials and other individuals involved in federal litigation. During her tenure as a federal prosecutor, her cases focused on firearms prosecutions, domestic terrorism, and violent crime. She has tried numerous federal criminal trials to verdict and has briefed and argued multiple cases before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Before joining the Department of Justice, Margaret was a Captain in the Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division and 5th Special Forces Group. As a JAG officer, she spent significant time overseas, deploying to Iraq and Syria, advising on disaster relief operations in Liberia, and being stationed over a year on the Korean peninsula. She served on two combat deployments and is a Bronze Star recipient for meritorious service. Margaret has taught repeat courses at Yale Law School on federal prosecution and on the Russo-Ukrainian War as a Visiting Lecturer in Law. She is currently a coordinating attorney with Yale Law School’s Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic. Margaret is often called on by major media outlets like CNN, MSNOW, ABC News, and NewsNation, to provide legal commentary concerning the rule of law, government overreach, the law of armed conflict, and federal criminal justice. Her work is frequently featured in national publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Bloomberg News. Awards and Honors Honors 2023 Prosecutor of the Year, International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (Connecticut Chapter) Military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist and Air Assault Badges, among others
