About Nicole Coates
Nicole Coates takes great satisfaction in representing the seriously injured, their families and other people who have suffered harm through no fault of their own. Her practice is focused mainly in the areas of medical malpractice and complex personal injury law, where her science background and healthcare experience have been invaluable. Before practicing law, Ms. Coates studied and performed research in the field of genetic sciences and interned at the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Both experiences have informed her medical malpractice and serious personal injury work. She has flourished as a trial lawyer in Connecticut, as evidenced most recently by obtaining a $9 million jury verdict in 2024, rising to $14.4 million with interest, for a client injured by medical malpractice. In addition to her catastrophic personal injury cases, Ms. Coates represents victims of serious crimes, including those who are victims and survivors of sexual abuse. In connection with this work, she is an active member of the National Crime Victim Bar Association, where she was elected to serve as the 2023 and 2024 Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Council. Consistent with her goals of obtaining justice for her clients, Ms. Coates also is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice, Injury Board, and Fairfield County Bar Association, where she serves on the Board of Directors. Ms. Coates is humbled to be able to represent individuals who often come to her at one of the most difficult times in their lives. She is devoted to helping her clients obtain justice and secure full and fair compensation for their injuries. Ms. Coates’ commitment to helping people shines through in her dedication to the clients she serves.
