Philip C. Pires

PHILIP C. PIRES is an associate in Cohen and Wolf's Litigation, Municipal, and Land Use and Zoning Groups. Resident in the Bridgeport office, Mr. Pires practices in the areas of commercial litigation, real property litigation, property tax appeals, landlord/tenant litigation, and land use and zoning law. Mr. Pires represents individuals and businesses in a variety of litigation matters, including complex commercial disputes, business litigation, real property and title disputes, and collection actions. He also regularly represents municipalities and individuals in commercial and residential property tax appeals, zoning and wetlands enforcement actions, and zoning appeals. Mr. Pires also has significant experience representing individuals, heirs, fiduciaries and creditors in a variety of probate litigation matters, including contested conservatorships. Mr. Pires is admitted to practice in Connecticut, the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut, and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. He is a member of the American, Connecticut, and Greater Bridgeport Bar Associations. He is a member of the Litigation and Planning & Zoning Sections of the Connecticut Bar Association. Mr. Pires also serves on the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers Section of the Connecticut Bar Association as the co-chair of its Municipal Law Committee. Mr. Pires serves on the Bridgeport Community Board of Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut, Inc., an organization dedicated to educating students in grades K through 12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy. As a volunteer teacher for Junior Achievement, Mr. Pires has taught a sixth grade class in Fairfield. In 2013, Mr. Pires was elected to serve a two-year term on Fairfield's Representative Town Meeting, the legislative body of the town. He also serves on the RTM's Education and Recreation Committee. Mr. Pires is a member of the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee, and he serves as the Assistant District Leader of District 7. In 2012 and 2013, Mr. Pires was selected as a "Rising Star" by Connecticut Super Lawyers in the category of Business Litigation. Mr. Pires received his B.A., in 2005, from Haverford College and his J.D., with honors, in 2008 from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Constitutional Law. While in law school, he served as Executive Editor of the Connecticut Public Interest Law Journal and was a member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board.
