About Christopher J. Ema
Christopher J. Ema is a shareholder of MacLean & Ema and is the Director of the firm's Real Property Practice Group. Mr. Ema specializes in residential and commercial real estate matters, including the negotiation and preparation of purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, loan agreements and related security documentation, and represents borrowers in mortgage loan transactions and provides title insurance in connection with that representation. Mr. Ema is approved to close loans for most national and local lenders. He is an agent for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company through Attorney's Title Fund Services, LLC. Mr. Ema has extensive experience in the practice of business law, including the formation of new entities such as limited liability companies, corporations, and partnerships, and he also represents clients in all aspects of the purchase and sale of businesses via either asset or stock sales, including the preparation of purchase and sale agreements and financing and security documents in connection with those transactions. This diverse experience benefits clients through the recognition of the need to integrate these various disciplines to achieve the clients' overall legal objectives. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mr. Ema's family moved to South Florida where Mr. Ema attended high school, graduating valedictorian of his class. Mr. Ema attended Duke University in Durham, N.C. where he graduated with honors. Mr. Ema received his law degree from the University of Florida in 1982. While in law school, Mr. Ema was an editor, instructor, and advisor to the Appellate Advocacy Board of Supervisors and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi fraternity. Mr. Ema joined the firm upon graduation from law school and became a name partner in 1988. Mr. Ema is admitted to the Florida Bar, is a member of its Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and is a member of the Broward County Bar Association. Through an invitation-only process, Mr. Ema became a standing member of the oldest and most prestigious council of real estate attorneys in Broward County, the Attorneys' Real Estate Council of Broward County, Inc. ("AREC"), which he later served as a Director and its President and was a standing member of the Advisory Board to the Attorney's Title Insurance Fund, Inc. (the "Fund"). Mr. Ema is also a member of the Broward Attorney's Real Estate Council, a sister group to AREC. Mr. Ema is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. Mr. Ema has an "AV" rating, the highest rating available, from Martindale-Hubbell, which is recognized as the most respected source of authoritative and reliable information about members of the legal community and reflects confidential ratings by other lawyers and the judiciary. Mr. Ema is also involved in various community organizations and activities. He is a member of the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce, for which he previously served as Director and as President. He was a two-time Chairman of South Florida's oldest continuous beach front festival, the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival. Mr. Ema is also a member of the Exchange Club of Pompano Beach for which he previously served as Director and President. He also is an alumnus of the inaugural graduating class of Leadership North Broward. Mr. Ema also received recognition from the Fund, the title insurance underwriter with Florida's largest single market share, as a recipient of the Fund's prestigious President's Circle Award, which recognizes the Fund's greater top one hundred agents (out of over 4,600 members) for the most recent reporting year. Mr. Ema resides in Lighthouse Point with his wife, Maura, close to his four children and three granddaughters.
