Geannina Burgos

Since joining Dabdoub Law Firm as an associate attorney, Geannina Burgos has focused on providing skilled representation for those who have claims for disability benefits both short and long term. She is able to take her clients through the entire process, from filing the initial individual or group disability claims, handling pre-suit appeals, and litigating benefits that were wrongfully denied or terminated by insurance companies in federal and state court. Her clients are entitled to receive disability insurance policy benefits under a private, or individual, insurance policy or via a long-term disability policy through their employer. A majority of the cases that Nina handles fall under ERISA, or the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. This is a federal law that governs most long-term disability benefits claims. Nina earned several fellowships from a number of organizations, including the Young Lawyers’ Division of the Florida Bar, the American Society of Public Administrators, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and the Ruden McClosky Foundation. During her time in law school, she had a summer judicial clerkship under the Honorable Judge Barbara Lagoa in the Third District Court of Appeal. She also participated in her law school’s Community Development Clinic, and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Mediation. A classically trained ballet and modern dancer, Nina managed a multi-site nonprofit arts education organization for several years prior to becoming an attorney. She is an active member of the non-profit arts community, sitting on the board of multiple culture-driven organizations and has volunteered as a grant panelist for several cultural institutions. Nina holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and is fluent in English and Spanish.
