Anita Bala

Anita Kumar, a member of Gregory Doyle's Education Law practice group, specializes in matters involving civil litigation, special education and employment law. Ms. Kumar has successfully represented school district clients in various matters of civil litigation, including First Amendment claims, torts, and Fair Dismissal Act cases. She also maintains a busy special education practice, counseling clients at IEP meetings and in due process proceedings. Her transactional experience includes contract review for school district procurements. She also regularly assists clients in governance matters and board policy review. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Kumar worked for the City of New York Department of Social Services as a special assistant civil prosecutor for matters involving child abuse and neglect. She has extensive experience representing public agencies in litigation involving services for children with special needs. During law school, Ms. Kumar published and presented a law journal article on the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 at a national education law conference. During the summers, she focused her work on municipal legal issues and interned at both the City of Atlanta Law Department and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Her other legal experience includes criminal litigation work in both prosecution and defense offices. Before law school, Ms. Kumar studied International Affairs at Emory University and the London School of Economics.
