Darrell L. Sutton

Darrell Sutton was born in Marietta, Georgia on November 4, 1977. He has lived nearly the entirety of his life in Georgia, and has practiced law in Cobb County continuously since 2003. Darrell received his Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from Berry College in Rome, Georgia in 2000. He thereafter attended Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 2003. Shortly after graduation from law school, Darrell was admitted to the Georgia Bar. He is licensed to practice in all Georgia State and Superior Courts, the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Georgia Supreme Court, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia and the United States Supreme Court. Darrell practices almost exclusively in the area of insurance defense litigation. His practice is devoted to the representation of employers, insurers, self-insured companies, and servicing agents in workers’ compensation claims throughout Georgia, and he is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He also has significant experience representing individuals and businesses in various civil liability claims and insurance coverage and premium disputes. Over the past several years, Darrell has actively served the Cobb County Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. He has been a Trustee of the Cobb County Bar Association since 2007 and was President of the Cobb County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division from 2007 to 2008. He has co-chaired the Cobb Bar Law Day Committee and the Law Day Silent Auction Committee. Darrell also was awarded the Cobb County Bar Association President’s Award in 2008 and 2009, and he received the Ross Adams Younger Lawyer Award in 2010. In addition, from 2005 to 2007 Darrell served as a Representative on the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division’s Executive Council. Darrell graduated from the Young Lawyers Division’s Leadership Academy in 2007, and he became a Director of the YLD in 2008. He was appointed co-editor of the YLD’s newsletter that same year and served in that capacity until 2010, when he was elected YLD Secretary. Since then, Darrell has been elected YLD Treasurer and YLD President-Elect, and he will serve as President of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division during the 2013-2014 Bar year. Darrell is also a member of the State Bar of Georgia Executive Committee, in addition to his service on the State Bar’s Investigative Panel and its Continuity of Law Practice, Law Practice Management, and Programs committees. He also is a trustee of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia.
