Steven Russell Yancey Chumbler

Steve joined Cox Byington Twyman LLP in 2023. Steve is a native of nearby Gaylesville, Alabama and graduated from Darlington School in 2007. He attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with a B.A. in History and Political Science. Steve received his law degree from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 2014 and is licensed to practice law in both the State of Georgia and the State of Alabama. After finishing law school, Steve worked in private practice in Montgomery, Alabama before working as a Deputy District Attorney for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office where he gained litigation experience in prosecuting felony cases, misdemeanor cases and civil forfeitures. Before joining Cox Byington Twyman LLP, Steve was an Associate with Brumlow, Corwin & Delashmit, P.C., where he focused on real estate transactions, exchanges, and title review. Steve has extensive experience in representing lenders, borrowers, and sellers in real estate transactions, negotiating, and preparing purchase and sale agreements, easement agreements, and leases. Steve frequently handles residential and commercial real estate financed and cash transactions. In connection with all aspects of his real estate practice, he regularly assists clients with the formation of various business entities, the probating and administration of estates, and the preparation of wills. Steve primarily represents parties in the acquisition, disposition, and financing of residential and commercial properties in both Georgia and Alabama. He is committed to making sure his clients receive effective and professional representation, and that all parties involved in the real estate transaction, from borrowers, sellers, lenders, to the real estate agents, all receive superior service at every step of the real estate transaction. Steve is married to Lauren Chumbler, a fellow native of Rome. They have three children, their son, Brooks, and their two spoiled dogs, Miller and Sipowicz.
