Andrew Joseph Guzzo

Andrew assists consumers who have been treated wrongly by banks, credit reporting agencies, lenders, creditors, debt collectors, and furnishers of credit information. Throughout his career, Andrew has focused almost exclusively on representing consumers, and he has witnessed first-hand the impact that companies can have when they treat consumers in an abusive manner or refuse to fix their mistakes. Andrew is committed to using federal consumer protection laws to level the playing field between individuals and companies. Andrew has significant experience in the consumer law field. Since 2011, Andrew has litigated over 350 cases in federal courts, including more than 100 cases against each of the “Big 3” credit reporting agencies and dozens of cases against internet lenders who prey on financially vulnerable consumers. In many of these cases, Andrew was the primary or co-author on dozens of briefs leading to favorable, published decisions on behalf of his clients. For example, along with Ms. Kelly, Andrew drafted the opposition to the motion to dismiss in Williams v. Big Picture Loans, LLC, which resulted in the first decision from a federal court finding that an online tribal lender could be sued by Virginia consumers in federal court. Andrew is licensed and primarily practices in Virginia and Hawai‘i but has litigated cases across the country, including in Maryland, the District of Columbia, California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Texas, New Jersey, and New York. He has been repeatedly recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine, and is also a regular speaker at local and national conferences on consumer litigation matters, including on issues related to credit reporting, class actions, arbitration, and payday loans. Outside the office, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family and trying to lower his single-digit handicap.
