James Robert Schiff

James Robert Schiff has been an attorney with the firm since June of 2010. He has represented hundreds of claimants at the initial stages through the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. At the Seventh Circuit, he argued and won the cases of Bjornson v. Astrue, 671 F.3d 640 (7th Cir. 2012), Allensworth v. Colvin, 814 F.3d 831 (7th Cir. 2016), and Ghiselli v. Colvin, 837 F.3d 771 (7th Cir. 2016), among others. Since 2017, he has managed the firm's client intake system and is responsible for reviewing new potential client cases, in addition to writing and editing legal briefs. Mr. Schiff is a Seventh Circuit representative to the National Association of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) Board. He has given presentations at NOSSCR conferences on children's disability claims and overpayment cases, and, at the Chicago Bar Association, on continuing disability reviews. Prior to working at the Law Offices of Barry Schultz, Mr. Schiff worked as an attorney with the employment & labor law section of the US Postal Service. During law school, he worked as a summer associate at Clark Hill, PLC in Detroit, Michigan, and as an intern in the labor department of the City of Chicago Department of Law. Outside of work, Mr. Schiff enjoys beach volleyball, board games, and reading.
