Teresa M Meagher

Teresa Meagher, with over 35 years of legal experience, practices exclusively in the areas of social security disability, veterans disability, and short term and long term disability claims. She has obtained benefits for many individuals at all levels of appeal from initial applications at the agency level through the appellate court level. Examples of her work at the appellate level are the reported case, Cox v. Apfel, 160 F.3d 1203 (8th Cir. 1998) and the unpublished case, Hinton v. Massanari, No. 00-3408 (10th Circuit, July 3, 2001). Teresa has presented at several seminars sponsored by the Kansas Bar Association, NOSSCR (Eighth Circuit conference) and the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association on topics related to social security disability law and veterans law. Prior to beginning her private law practice in 1994, Teresa was employed at Kansas Legal Services, Inc., serving as Project Director of the Wyandotte-Leavenworth office. While working at Legal Services, Teresa represented hundreds of low-income individuals on their claims for public benefits, including social security disability. She was lead counsel in a successful lawsuit against the State of Kansas for failure to provide Medicaid coverage to adults in need of liver transplants.
