Stephen Schwartz

Stephen J. Schwartz is the shareholder of Schwartz & Schwartz, P.A. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine, with distinction , and his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Santa Clara Law Review. Steve joined his father Jack's law practice in 1987, after having served in as an assistant D.A. in the York County District Attorneys' Office. Steve has handled 1000's of cases in his career. He specializes in helping victims of car accidents and other negligence, as well as criminal and traffic defense, and wills and probate. Steve Schwartz was a founder and the first president of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MACDL) in 1992-93. He is a past chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association. He is a member of the Criminal Rules Advisory Committee to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and is a member of the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Maine State Bar Association. He is past editor of Maine Defender, the newsletter of the MACDL, and a former member of the Editorial Advisory Committee of the Maine Bar Journal . Steve is a frequent speaker at Continuing Education seminars and has appeared as the Big Show lawyer on WPOR-FM in Portland.
