Matthew J. Focht

An associate in the firm's personal injury practice group, Matt joined Joseph Greenwald & Laake in June of 2014. He handles all aspects of civil litigation at the state and federal level in Maryland and the District of Columbia with an emphasis on Plaintiff's-side personal injury cases. He has extensive courtroom experience and has tried cases in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Additionally, he has argued cases in both the Maryland Court of Appeals and the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Matt is a 1995 graduate of Loyola College in Maryland, majoring in Political Science. He earned his law degree in 2001 from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Districts of Maryland and District of Columbia, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In 2013, Matt was honored to be a member of the inaugural class of the Bar Association of Montgomery County's Leadership Academy where he assisted in the creation of a truancy court program at Shady Grove Middle School in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
