About Steven E Zlochiver

Steve Zlochiver is a Massachusetts native and currently resides in Middlesex County . His undergraduate education was at the University of Massachusetts where he majored in Political Science and graduated magna cum laude. His law degree is from the Univerisity of New Hampshire School of Law. He has been a member of the bar, and in good standing, since 1988 and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Attorney Zlochiver's first job as a lawyer was as a litigator at Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts in Worcester where he worked for 13 years. While there he initially practiced in the areas of Disability, Education, Mental Health and Domestic Relations law, but then limited his practice to Domestic Relations law for his final 11 years there - representing both male and female victims of domestic violence in contested custody cases. In 2002 he entered private practice and located his office in Middlesex County , although he practices in many other counties, too. In addition to the various types of Domestic Relations cases in which he is experienced, Attorney Zlochiver now, also, represents parties, including children, in Care and Protection proceedings that are usually litigated in Juvenile Court and involve the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. His extensive experience in Probate and Family Court custody cases lends itself to the nature of these Juvenile Court matters. Since entering private practice in 2002 Attorney Zlochiver has been involved with the Honorable Harry Zarrow Homeless Advocacy Project through which, as a volunteer, he takes pro bono custody, visitation and child support cases. Attorney Zlochiver has successfully negotiated many settlement agreements over the years, for the vast majority of cases in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court end up being settled before trial whether the issues are primarily about property, support or custody. His clients have also been pleased with the outcomes of trials and appeals. Examples of his reported appellate cases are Mannor v. Mannor, 46 Mass. App. Ct. 46 (1998) and Brown v. Chater, 927 F.Supp.10 (1996) (a Social Security Disability matter). Attorney Zlochiver has been a faculty member for a seminar of Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education: Child Support and Alimony Primer.
