John M. Karafa

With over 40 years of experience, John Karafa has built a respected legal career representing both corporate and individual clients in state and federal courts across Michigan. His practice is driven by deep trial experience, strategic focus, and a strong commitment to helping clients achieve meaningful results—whether in court or through alternative dispute resolution. At Tabono Law, John concentrates on complex family law matters, including divorce, custody and parenting time, as well as criminal defense in both state and federal courts. He is known for ensuring his clients’ voices are heard and their concerns are fully represented. John earned his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School and graduated with honors from Michigan State University. He is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Family Law and Criminal Law Sections, the Muskegon County Bar Association, the Ottawa County Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association for the Western District of Michigan. John regularly appears in courts throughout West Michigan, including Michigan Circuit and District Courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the Michigan Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
