R. John Bartz

R. John Bartz is a registered patent attorney and has been an officer in the firm of Bartz & Bartz, P.A. since 1989. Prior to the year 1989 John was an associate in the firm of Burd, Bartz & Gutenkauf located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. John is a 1981 graduate from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a degree in Chemistry. John received a Juris Doctorate Degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1985. He has 30 years experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, including prosecution and litigation in many technical fields including medical technology and devices, mechanical systems and products, and recreational equipment. John also has extensive experience in patent, trademark, probate and other civil litigation, and estate planning counseling and document preparation services. Outside of the office John enjoys soccer, softball, fishing and gardening with his wife, Lori, having retired from coaching his kids' Johnny, Andy and Anna youth teams. John considers himself fortunate to have been given the opportunity to practice law with both his mother and father.
