Brenda Currie Jones

Brenda Currie Jones is a shareholder at Wise Carter Child & Caraway with over eleven years of experience representing employers in labor and employment matters. Her practice includes both compliance assistance and litigation. She has represented employers in trials before Federal and State courts and defends a wide range of employers, both large and small, in the litigation of various federal discrimination and retaliation claims, as well as state law claims. Ms. Jones also represents employers before administrative agencies, including, but not limited to the EEOC and Mississippi Department of Employment Security. She is often retained by insurance companies to defend their insureds in employment related disputes. In addition to litigation matters, Ms. Jones frequently counsels employers in day-to-day employment decisions such as terminations, layoffs, hiring, drug and alcohol testing, accommodations, discipline, leave, pay, overtime pay, and background checks. She provides in-house training for employers and frequently assists employers in drafting employment contracts, policies, procedures, handbooks, separation agreement, and independent contractor service agreements. Ms. Jones conducts harassment, discrimination, and other employment related investigations for employers. Ms. Jones is admitted to practice in all Mississippi Federal and State Courts, as well as the United States Supreme Court, and is a member of various legal bar associations. In 2005-2006, Ms. Jones served as the Chair of the Mississippi Bar Association’s Labor and Employment section.
