John Cowherd

John was raised on a dairy farm south of Purdy and graduated from Cassville High School in 1978. Like his 5 brothers, John graduated from Mizzou. John received an Ag Econ degree in 1981 and a law degree in 1985 from Mizzou Law School where he was on the Dean’s List and Law Review. After Law School John practiced for 3 years in a litigation law firm in Springfield and then moved to Mount Vernon where he and his wife Lynne have raised 5 wonderful children. John focuses his practice on personal injury, wrongful death, and workers compensation cases. He is a past president of the Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section, a former member of the Board of Governors of the Missouri Bar, and past Chair of the MoBar Continuing Legal Education Committee. For the past 19 years John has served as a bar examiner (i.e., grading essay bar exams) for the Missouri Supreme Court’s Board of Law Examiners. John is also a lay pastor and enjoys bible study, reading good biographies, making pizza, hanging out with his awesome wife, and watching Mizzou football.
