Paul L. Schmitz

Paul leads the criminal law practice at UGBB. His practice benefits from a prior career in law enforcement. He served at the State of Missouri Board of Probation and Parole holding positions as a probation and parole officer and later in management. The experience allowed Paul to become thoroughly familiar with the criminal justice adjudication process from the initiation of proceedings through sentencing with a vision towards the best possible outcome. Accordingly, Paul provides a comprehensive approach in his assistance to clients who face criminal charges ranging from minor infractions up to serious felony indictments. Paul has experience handling cases involving violent crimes, drug crimes, sex crimes, property crimes, traffic violations, white collar crime, misdemeanors, felonies and many other criminal charges. Paul successfully argued cases before the Missouri Court of Appeals in the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri and is capable of building defenses in opposition to criminal accusations at each stage of the legal process. Paul also coordinates representation with other UGBB attorneys in a broad range of civil litigation matters. Paul's varied experience, empathy in recognition of the difficult situations each of his clients face and his passion for meeting the needs of his clients are all factors that contribute to strong legal representation. All this, when combined with a spirit of collaboration, allow him to bring a comprehensive perspective to his clients' cases. As one of the firm's partners, Paul seeks practical, cost-effective resolutions, while keeping in mind the long-term implications of each matter.
