Kari L. Stephens

Kari Stephens is Of Counsel at JEFFREY BURR. Kari completed her undergraduate studies at Oregon State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude). She went on to study law at Willamette University College of Law, in Salem, Oregon, earning her Juris Doctor (Cum Laude), having graduated fifth in her class. Kari began her legal career at a Portland law firm representing clients in all aspects of trusts and estates. Upon relocating to Las Vegas, Kari joined the Wells Fargo Bank Trust & Investments Center, where she managed the local Trust & Estate Settlement Services department, overseeing the settlement of Trusts over which the Bank had been designated as Trustee. She later joined Goldsmith & Guymon, P.C., as an associate attorney, practicing in the areas of probate and trust administration, estate planning and small business representation. In 2005, Kari joined the trust and estate litigation law firm of Solomon Dwiggins & Freer, Ltd., where she routinely represented fiduciaries, beneficiaries and heirs involving contested matters. Kari was named a partner at Solomon Dwiggins & Freer, Ltd. in 2008. Kari is actively involved in volunteering her time in the legal community. She has the distinction of being elected as the 2013 President of the Clark County Bar Association having served on the Association's Executive Board since 2006. From 2003 to 2010, Kari acted as a Trustee for the State Bar of Nevada's Client Security Fund, during which period she investigated defalcation claims against attorneys on behalf of the State Bar. Kari is also a member of the Probate and Trust Law section of the State Bar and the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys. Most recently, Kari was elected to the State Bar of Nevada Board of Governor's for a 2 year term. Kari's practice at JEFFREY BURR focuses on trust administration, probate and estate planning. She is licensed to practice law in Nevada, Oregon and Washington, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada and the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. She has been selected as Vegas Inc's 2013 Women to Watch.
