David Gray

David Gray is a criminal defense attorney. He received his B.A. from Reed College and attended CUNY School of Law, where he was a member of the Criminal Defense Clinic and Moot Court. While in law school, he worked in the Legal Aid Society’s Manhattan Criminal Defense Practice trial office and in the Special Litigation and Law Reform Unit of the Juvenile Rights Practice. He clerked for the Honorable Robert S. Jones of the New Jersey Superior Court, Criminal Division. He joined the Brill Legal Group in 2019. David understands that people charged with crimes face both a social stigma and the practical challenges of being accused of wrongdoing. He is driven to obtaining the most favorable possible outcome for his clients, across every stage of their litigation. David spends his free time playing baseball and basketball with his son.

• 2019: Achieved a mistrial in New York Supreme Court for a physician’s assistant charged in a 64-count felony indictment for conspiring to distribute opioids and defraud Medicare.
• 2019: Negotiated the return to school and immediate disciplinary record sealing for a disabled Long Island high school senior charged in a hazing incident.
• 2020: Won the release of a New York state prisoner whose continued confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic violated the 8th Amendment of the United States Constitution.
