John Belesi

John Belesi is a partner at Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Formato, Ferrara & Wolf, LLP and the director of the firm's No-Fault Recovery Practice. Mr. Belesi primarily focuses on the recovery of unpaid no-fault claims and workers' compensation claims for New York State healthcare providers. He has settled thousands of claims and recovered millions of dollars for providers specializing in surgery, diagnostic and neurological testing, psychiatry, acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy, MRI, and medical supply. Mr. Belesi has stayed current on all of the recent no-fault statues, regulations, legislation, and case law, and has litigated cases representing healthcare providers on arbitrations, examinations under oath (EUOs), independent medical exams (IMEs), medical necessity and peer reviews with a track record of success. Mr. Belesi has acted as co-counsel in class action litigation against insurance companies and has played leading roles in a wide variety of significant insurance coverage disputes. He has extensive knowledge in the complex civil RICO litigation and represented numerous healthcare providers on such matters. In addition, he has also provided guidance regarding compliance with state and federal fraud and abuse, including the Stark II and anti-kickback laws. Mr. Belesi possesses the unique qualifications of being both a licensed chiropractor and a licensed attorney. This unique combination of education and experience allows him to provide healthcare providers with comprehensive counsel in a broad spectrum of healthcare matters. Because of his vast experience both as an attorney and a practicing chiropractor, Mr. Belesi has been able to interface and assist attorneys counseling healthcare clients on licensing and criminal issues.
