About Louis D. Stober Jr.
Louis D. Stober, Jr. is a seasoned professional in the labor and discrimination field with over 30 years of experience representing the largest labor union on Long Island. In that capacity, Mr. Stober has won millions of dollars for union members and the union over the years and is on the cutting edge of the New York Civil Service Law. Many of Mr. Stober's cases have set precedent in New York on the Civil Service Law and he is constantly looking for new cases that will further define the law. In addition to representing the Civil Service Employees Association, Mr. Stober also represents the School Administrators Association of New York, handling cases and contract negotiations throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island. Even in these tough economic times, Mr. Stober has been able to obtain substantial salary increases in contract negotiations with the school districts throughout his region. Mr. Stober's expertise in discrimination cases has taken notice front and center with a string of multi-million dollar verdicts. In February of 2009 Mr. Stober obtained a verdict for over one million dollars against the County of Nassau in a political retaliation/discrimination case Miller v. County of Nassau. In November of 2009 Mr. Stober won a two million dollar verdict, including $500,000 in punitive damages in Federal Court for an Assistant Director of Probation for First Amendment/freedom of political association violations against the County of Nassau in Thorsen v. County of Nassau. Mr. Stober's win in Vorwerk v. Brown, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, for gender discrimination/retaliation by the VA Medical Center against a female doctor at the Northport VA Medical Center. In bringing in one of the largest verdicts against the U.S. Government in a discrimination case, Mr. Stober convinced the jury to award $2,050,000 in pain and suffering for Dr. Vorwerk. Finally, in Zimmermann v. Associates First Capital, a trial in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Mr. Stober won a $1,096,000 verdict against Associates First Capital for it's discriminatory termination of a female Assistant Vice-President. Mr. Stober was able to so enrage the jury against Associates First Capital that it awarded $1,000,000 in punitive damages against the company. Mr. Stober also won two major class action suits in 2009 involving millions of dollars in damages. In Lane/Tosner et al v. Town of Hempstead, Mr. Stober won substantial sums for the named plaintiffs and created a mechanism in the Town of Hempstead whereby part time employees who work beyond a certain number of hours per year will be put on a list to be made full time employees. In CSEA v. County of Nassau, Mr. Stober obtained a court order finding that the method by which the County had been calculating salaries of employees on promotion, since 1999, was shortchanging the employees of their proper salaries. The decision is worth over 5 million dollars based on current calculations. Mr. Stober's trial experience has led to many similar results in personal injury and commercial litigation as well. As the principal and leader of his firm, Mr. Stober takes immense pride in the success of his firm in all its endeavors. Trust your legal matters to a proven professional, the Law Offices of Louis D.
