Barbara Szombatfalvy

Barbara Szombatfalvy graduated with honors from North Carolina Central School of Law in 2005. Since then, she has practiced family law as an associate with a Chapel Hill law firm, and from 2012 to 2025 as a partner of Woodmansee & Szombatfalvy, PLLC. As of July 2025, Barbara continues to provide family law services as part of Szombatfalvy Law, PLLC - Durham Family Law Firm. Barbara works to establish strong, positive relationships with her clients and helps them navigate the emotional upheavals of divorce, achieve financial stability, and reduce the stress that divorce places on children. Whether in negotiation or litigation, she is a tough and determined advocate working to protect the best interests of her clients. In 2013, she gained certification as a Guardian Ad Litem and Parenting Coordinator. Barbara is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Durham County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and the 16th Judicial District Bar and is recognized by Best Lawyers in America. Barbara enjoys photography, hiking, and reading, and has been active rescuing and fostering stray and neglected dogs in the Triangle area. She takes great pleasure in exploring all of the great activities that Durham has to offer.
