Steve is married to Kathleen Sliter Monks. Steve and Kathleen have two children. He works with youth at his church, Holy Infant Catholic Church and was a member of the 1983 University of Houston cheerleading squad and was on the floor when his team, Phi Slama Jama, lost a buzzer beater in the national championship game against NC State.
