James H. Gordon Jr.

Mr. Gordon is a trial lawyer representing individuals and corporations, including Fortune 50 companies. His cases often involve wrongful death or catastrophic personal injuries, ranging from severe burns or loss of limb to traumatic brain injury (TBI). While based in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Gordon tries cases throughout the country in both state and Federal courts in matters civil and criminal. Unlike many “litigators” who engage in and charge for case activities without clearly defined exit strategies, Mr. Gordon employs backward planning to each and every one of his cases. He pinpoints the law upon which a jury will most likely be instructed at trial, and develops compelling facts that can be presented clearly and effectively before that jury, putting his clients in their optimal position to obtain favorable outcomes. Prior to joining Ansa Assuncao, Mr. Gordon was with the global law firm DLA Piper US LLP. He built the foundation for his trial practice in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Marine Judge Advocate and a Special Assistant to the United States Attorney. While on active duty, Mr. Gordon led international missions that included the training of Iraqi Special Tribunal (IST) investigators in anticipation of the trials of Saddam Hussein and other Baath Party officials and the development of criminal procedure and disciplinary codes with the Afghan National Army. Mr. Gordon enjoys working with experienced and aspiring trial lawyers in the development of their craft. He has served as an adjunct professor of trial practice at Villanova University's School of Law, an evidence instructor at the Naval Justice School, and a guest lecturer for the most senior uniformed trial attorneys in all of the services. He has conducted multiple moot court events, including competitions with The United States Military Academy at West Point, The United States Naval Academy, and students at The University of San Diego and the Roger Williams University School of Law.
