Robert J. Foley Jr.

The firm's chief litigator, Robert J. Foley, is a passionate champion of underdogs seeking just compensation for work-related injuries. A Youngstown native, Foley attended Hubbard public schools and graduated from Hubbard High School. He received a B. A. degree in political science and philosophy from Youngstown State University in 1993, graduating magna cum laude. He then enrolled at the University of Akron School of Law and combined his legal studies with a full-time law clerk job at Heller, Maas, Moro & Magill. He then joined the firm as an attorney after receiving his J.D. in 1998. Foley's practice focuses solely on representing working people seeking workers' compensation and Social Security disability benefits. He handles these claims at every step of the process, but is also the firm's primary litigator when cases make it to the hearing stage or go to court. "I like standing up for what I believe is just," Foley says. "And I've always liked debating and trying to convince people." A lifelong devotee of martial arts, Foley brings a well-honed fighting spirit to his work on behalf of clients. While he relishes the competitive aspects of law, however, he is equally drawn to its crucial quieter sides - analytical research and effective writing. In his spare time, Foley maintains a longstanding interest in underground music - he once published his own music fanzine - and continues to practice martial arts. He holds Black Belts in Chinese and Japanese martial arts and works and trains on a regular basis.
