Jonathan R. Colton

During 2013, Jonathan Colton became certified as a specialist in the practice of workers' compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Section on Workers' Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Fewer than 250 attorneys in Pennsylvania have obtained that certification. Mr. Colton has served as Chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section as well as the Section's Secretary, Treasurer, and member of its Council. For several years, Mr. Colton has been selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. Mr. Colton's devotion to representing, protecting, and understanding the rights of workers is rooted in his family history. Mr. Colton's grandfather worked as a union welder in and around Philadelphia for many years; his great uncle participated in one of the longest strikes in labor history - a 156-day strike of Westinghouse in 1955-56; and his father, a retired teacher of thirty-five years, was an active member in the PSEA and NEA, serving as his local union's president, treasurer, and chief negotiator. Mr. Colton received his Juris Doctor degree and Certificate of Advanced Study in Civil Litigation from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Mr. Colton is admitted to practice in the Federal and State courts of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Allegheny County Bar Association.
