Lori K. Shemtob

Ms. Shemtob is a founding partner of Shemtob Law, P.C., a full service family law firm, where she concentrates her practice exclusively on divorce, which includes handling matters of equitable distribution, alimony, custody, child and spousal support, prenuptial agreements, property settlement agreement and other family law matters. She is an experienced litigator, having handled hundreds of divorce, custody, child and spousal support, and equitable distribution matters for Delaware Valley residents for over 25 years. Ms. Shemtob is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, (AAML), a national honor bestowed on only 74 lawyers in Pennsylvania. She served as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the AAML and is currently its Second Vice-President. Ms. Shemtob is one of 14 lawyers in the State certified by the AAML as a family law arbitrator. She is also a family law mediator. Ms. Shemtob has been selected as a Super Lawyer by Philadelphia Magazine for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Only 5% of all attorneys in the state are given this honor. The Super Lawyer selection process includes peer nominations, independent research of attorneys, as well as a blue ribbon panel review process. She was also named one of the Top 50 Women Attorneys in Pennsylvania as published in Philadelphia Magazine’s Super Lawyer Section. Her list of other impressive accomplishments is long. A past chairperson of the Family Law Section of the Montgomery Bar Association and former member of its Board of Directors, Ms. Shemtob currently serves as Co-Editor of Case Notes for the Pennsylvania Family Lawyer, and is a former Delegate to the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She is a Director of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation and formerly served on the Council of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section. She is currently on the Judiciary Committee of the Montgomery Bar Association. Ms. Shemtob is a frequent lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Montgomery Bar Association and professional groups of psychologists, matrimonial counselors, social workers, nurses, financial planners and more. She has also been a guest lecturer on family law issues at the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University. In the last several years, Ms. Shemtob has appeared on CN8 Money Matters with Mary Carriccioli, CNN Headline News and CN8's It's Your Call with Lynn Doyle. She has also been a guest on CN8's Newsmakers, the Irv Homer Radio Show and the Philadelphia Agenda with Brad Segall explaining the ramifications of recent amendments to the Pennsylvania Divorce Code. Channel 10 News has also called on Ms. Shemtob for assistance with its Legal Hotline. Ms. Shemtob was featured in the November 21, 2011 issue of Newsweek in its "Nationwide Leaders in Family Law" Showcase. The Showcase highlights Lori as a "Leader in Family Law" in Pennsylvania. She is also one of the Ten Leaders of Greater Philadelphia for Matrimonial and Divorce Law. A cum laude graduate of Temple University School of Law (J.D. 1987), Ms. Shemtob received her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts (B.A. 1977).
