Terry E. Hess

Attorney Terry E. Hess grew up in State College and spent his formative years throughout Central Pennsylvania. Terry is a 1987 graduate of State College Area High School and 1992 Graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a B.A. in Journalism and a Minor in Exercise and Sport Science. Following his graduation from Penn State, Terry was a sports writer & columnist for the Centre Daily Times (1992-94) and Johnstown Tribune-Democrat (1994-1999) where he covered various high school, college and professional sports. Terry left the newspaper business to pursue another passion, the law, in 1999. In 2002, Terry graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he began a 14-year legal career that saw him ultimately represent some of northeast Ohio’s most serious felony offenders, including several charged with homicide. Along the way, Terry also represented adult and juvenile defendants charged with DUI, other alcohol and drug offenses, traffic offenses, misdemeanor criminal offenses, and nonpayment of child and spousal support. In the fall of 2015, Terry returned home to State College intent on opening his own practice to assist people from a region that had given him so much growing up. Terry placed special emphasis on representing college and high school students who, hopefully, were experiencing their first brushes with the law. On January 4th, 2016, Terry opened Terry Hess Law at 119 South Burrowes Street in State College, offering free consultation for everyone and retainer discounts for college and high school students. Terry is a member of the Centre County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Terry, his wife and two children live in State College.
