Edwin Omar Figueroa

Mr. Figueroa's practice area includes income taxes, industrial tax incentives, non-for-profit exemption, hospital tax exemption, personal and real property taxes, municipal license taxes, municipal construction excise taxes, sales and use taxes, employee benefits and renewable energy incentives. He also has experience in tax litigation before the Puerto Rico courts, as well as in administrative proceedings before state and municipal taxing authorities, including but not limited to deficiency procedures and tax audits. Mr. Figueroa also provides assistance to entities commencing operations in Puerto Rico in tax related affairs and assists entities interested in developing renewable energy projects by providing advice with respect to the incentives available and participating in the negotiations of green energy production tax exemption decrees with government agencies. Before joining McConnell Valdes, he worked as an Associate Attorney at Garcia & Fernandez Law Office, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the practice areas of torts, debt-collection, corporate, real estate and as a Civil Law Notary. Mr. Figueroa also worked as a Tax Compliance Intern at Ernst & Young, LLP, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a Certified Public Accountant, he is an active member of the CPA/Attorney Committee of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants. As member of said committee, he has participated as a co-lecturer in various seminars on Analysis of Recent Tax Case Law.
