About Perry Cockerell
Banks, lenders, mortgage services, creditors, title insurance companies, and title companies hire Perry Cockerell to represent them to protect their financial interests. Whether pursuing recovery on a financial obligation, foreclosing a deed of trust or home equity loan, or defending an insured under a title insurance policy, clients rely on Perry to enforce, protect and to defend those interests in state court, federal court, or bankruptcy court. He has handled numerous real estate cases such as actions to quiet title, trespass to try title, and declaratory judgment proceedings over the validity of commercial and real estate lien documents. He handles creditor' claims in bankruptcy proceedings in all chapters of the Bankruptcy Code. He has an active appellate practice, having handled successfully many cases in the Courts of Appeals in Texas, Texas Supreme Court and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. He has filed several petitions for writ of certiorari to the United States Supreme Court.Admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1981, he has worked for the firm of Cantey Hanger LLP for over 31 years. He is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University and Texas Tech School of Law. He was an Adjunct Professor at Texas Wesleyan University where he taught Texas Pre-Trial Procedure and Trials and Appeals from 1998 - 2000.
