Robert H. Johnston III

Robert “Bob” Johnston is the founder of Johnston IP Law, PLLC, and is dedicated to helping clients secure trademarks and patents to protect their brands and innovations. With a nationwide practice, Bob guides entrepreneurs and businesses in building value through intellectual property. He prepares and prosecutes trademark and patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and assists with international filings. With decades of experience, he has worked with clients across industries, navigating the full spectrum of intellectual property matters. Bob’s career spans roles at multinational law firms, serving as chief intellectual property counsel for a technology startup that achieved a market capitalization of over a billion dollars, and ultimately establishing Johnston IP Law. His clients come from a diverse range of industries, including medical devices, oil and gas, software, hospitality, retail, aircraft, energy, and more. He holds degrees in engineering, law, and business and has served as Chair of the Dallas Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section.
