Stacy Hoffman Bruce

As a member at Cobb Martinez Woodward PLLC, Stacy Bruce represents clients on a wide range of legal matters including appeals, employment, professional liability, personal injury, construction, premises liability, and commercial litigation. For numerous years, Stacy has been named a Texas "Rising Star" by the publishers of Texas Monthly and Law & Politics. Stacy has also named an "Outstanding Lawyer Under 40" by the Cardozo Society of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. Representative matters: Stacy has obtained summary judgment or dismissal on the merits numerous times in a variety of areas in which she practices, including lawsuits involving employers, health care professionals, title companies, officers and directors, mortgage brokers, and apartment complexes and their management companies. Below are a few of the more significant summary judgments that Stacy has obtained: An employment discrimination and retaliation lawsuit in which the plaintiff sued under the ADA, FMLA, and ERISA seeking over a million dollars in damages. The final dismissal was affirmed by the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court denied certiorari Defending Officer and director defendants in a foster care placement agency lawsuit Defending a mortgage broker against a plaintiff alleging fraud and seeking over $100,000 in damages Defended an employer from a defamation claim Obtained numerous dismissals on premises liability claims against a retailer Stacy has also successfully defended a home inspector in a trial before a judge obtaining a take-nothing judgment. In addition, Stacy has successfully defended several dismissals as appellate counsel. In addition to representing clients in employment cases in state and federal court, Stacy regularly handles claims at the TWC, EEOC, & DOJ. She also advises employees in their workplace investigations, policies and procedures, employee discipline, and termination, and has helped conduct several investigations of claims for discrimination and retaliation.
