Rebecca D. Gilliland

Rebecca joined Beasley Allen in November 2010, working as a clerk in the Fraud section. She joined the firm as an attorney in November 2012 and is currently working in the firm's Fraud section on cases related to Average Wholesale Pricing (AWP) / Medicaid Fraud litigation. She has also worked in the firm's Mass Torts section, where she focused on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) litigation. Hormone Replacement Therapy, including drugs such as Premarin, Prempro and Provera, was prescribed to treat the symptoms of menopause until 2002, when a comprehensive women's health study was halted as a result of increasing incidents of breast cancer. The drugs also were promoted for off-label uses, including prevention of cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease. Rebecca graduated from the University of West Florida in December 2007 with a BA in Criminal Justice. She attended Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, earning her J.D. in May 2012, graduating magna cum laude. During law school, she was on the Dean's List each semester, earned six best paper awards, and was on the editorial board for the Law Review. She won several advocacy awards, including best advocate in the preliminary rounds at national moot court, American College of Trial Lawyer's award for excellence, national quarter-finalist for NY rounds of the national moot court competition, Best petitioner brief at Mercer Moot Court competition, second place best advocate competition also at Mercer, and was August A. Rendigs national products liability moot court champion. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Rebecca was a Marine. She learned celestial navigation and flew on C-130s. She also is a violinist and violist, and plays viola in the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra. She is a member of the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyer's Section and the Hugh Maddox chapter of the American Inns of Court. She has been accepted as an American MENSA member. Rebecca is married to Keith Gilliland and they make their home in Wetumpka, Ala. They have three children, Scott, Will and Lilly. They attend First Baptist Church in downtown Montgomery, Ala.
