Jakob Speert

Jakob Speert is a litigation associate at Gallagher Huie + Blum based in Southern California. He brings experience in federal court litigation, IP disputes, and client counseling developed across roles at LegalForce RAPC Worldwide (Trademarkia) and Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP. Prior to joining GH+B, Jake worked on patent and trademark litigation matters in federal court, appearing independently before the court for scheduling and procedural conferences, working directly with clients and opposing counsel in active litigation matters, and both conducting and assisting with depositions. He drafted and revised pleadings, declarations, and claim construction materials under tight deadlines. He also managed IP portfolios across more than 100 matters for several of Kilpatrick's top clients, handling office action responses and USPTO communications, experience that feeds directly into litigation strategy. Earlier in his career, Jake advised entrepreneurs and small business owners on legal issues through Santa Clara University School of Law's Entrepreneurs' Law Clinic. Jake holds a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he earned a Tech Edge JD Certification, the Emery Merit Scholarship, and a High Tech Excellence Award. He also holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in both Computer Science and Microbiology from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, where he graduated cum laude with a 4.0 in his graduate program. His computer science and microbiology background positions him well for litigation involving emerging technology, and his microbiology training has sparked a particular interest in GH+B's environmental practice.
