Laura T. Curry

Laura first became interested in estates and trusts when practicing as a family law attorney at the start of her career. It was quickly apparent to Laura that each family had their own dynamics which shaped their goals and desired outcome. The firm’s approach to working with clients throughout the years and life stages is what attracted her to this opportunity and formed her role within the firm. Laura devotes a large part of her practice to meeting with existing clients to review and update their estate planning documents throughout the transitions of life. She believes that the firm’s goal of “providing peace of mind” is best accomplished when the relationship between the attorney and client is consistent over the years. The strong focus of maintaining that relationship through complimentary consultations and developing new seminars focused on client concerns is a huge professional satisfaction to Laura. Laura also focuses her practice on assisting loved ones with incapacity, special needs planning, and elder law issues. Laura meets with the trustee or agent to discuss how the planning put in place by our client is used during a time of crisis. She also handles our guardianship practice by working with loved ones when they need to petition the court for the appointment of person or property. An evolving part of her practice is to assist with Medicaid planning and strategy. This includes working in advance to preserve assets for Medicaid purposes and also “crisis planning” when a client is trying to qualify for Medicaid as quickly as possible. In addition to providing advice and strategy, Laura can assist with applying for Medicaid so the client and their loved ones can focus on other important issues during this difficult time. Professional Experience Laura was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2009, and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association. She is also a member of the Women’s Bar Association and several local chapters. Most recently, Laura worked as a managing attorney at a law firm representing community associations throughout the State of Maryland. Prior to that, she worked as an associate in the Maryland office of a large, multi-state creditors’ rights firm. Laura believes her experience working in emotional settings with the desire to reach an equitable solution for all parties translates well in her role with Sinclair Prosser Gasior.
