William Gilchrist

William "Dooley" Gilchrist is native of Jackson, Mississippi. He has lived, studied, and worked in New Mexico for the better part of 25 years. He attended college at the University of New Mexico, earning his B.A. in Economics and Political Science. He earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law. Dooley’s practice focuses on representation of employers in employment law matters, handling legal malpractice claims, general business and tort litigation, and governmental investigations. Dooley has successfully represented employers in proceedings before the New Mexico Department of Labor, the New Mexico Human Rights Division, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and state and federal courts in and outside of New Mexico. He has handled employment litigation for employers in administrative proceedings and state and federal courts in New Mexico as well as in other states under the New Mexico Human Rights Act, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the False Claims Act, and state common law tort and contract matters. Dooley has won both jury and bench trials on behalf of employers, and he has also won administrative proceedings for employers. Dooley also has represented companies in breach of contract, attorneys’ fees, shareholder, and other business disputes, including obtaining a judgment for over $2,000,000 in a dispute between a product manufacturer and distributor. Dooley has successfully represented victims of legal malpractice, and he has recovered millions of dollars in compensation for those victims. Dooley is not afraid to take on difficult cases or those involving high-profile lawyers and law firms. He represents individuals as well as companies damaged by the negligence of a lawyer. Prior to founding Davis & Gilchrist, P.C., Dooley practiced with Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb, P.A., and Bannerman & Williams, P.A., in Albuquerque. While in law school, Dooley served as an editor for his law school’s legislative drafting clinic. He also served as a staff member of the Boston University International Law Journal and as an intern at the Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in New Mexico and Arizona and the 9th and 10th Circuit Courts of Appeals. Dooley is married with three children. In his spare time he pounds the drums for the alt-garage-emo-rock band Stereogeist, and trains for off-road, mountain trail-running events.
