Jonathan Monroe Petty

Jonathan's law practice focuses on litigation, predominantly in the representation of the victims of serious personal injury or death. Prior to co-founding Petty & Mullen PC, Jonathan was a partner at LeClair Ryan, one of the largest law firms in Virginia, where he was a member of the medical malpractice and products liability defense trial team. He has successfully tried personal injury cases to verdict in courts throughout the Commonwealth, from Richmond to Tidewater to Northern Virginia. Jonathan is licensed to practice law in both Virginia and Georgia, and he has handled cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in State and Federal Courts across the country. Beginning in 1994, Jonathan became involved in representing doctors, hospitals and insurance companies involved in complex medical malpractice litigation, including cases involving surgical errors, failure to diagnose cancer, cardiac death and birth-related injuries. Earlier in his career, he also represented large corporations in defending wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases involving tractor-trailer accidents and defective products. As a former defense lawyer, Jonathan gained valuable insight into how these complicated cases are defended. Since leaving the defense bar, he has applied this knowledge and experience exclusively to representing individuals who have suffered injuries and damages caused by the negligence and carelessness of others such as doctors, hospitals, careless drivers, product manufacturers, and others. Jonathan chairs the personal injury practice at Petty & Mullen PC. He is a member of The Association of the Trial Lawyers of America, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Richmond Bar Association.
