Joseph T. Patton

Joseph’s practice has focused exclusively on a full range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, child and spousal support, property division, premarital, marital, and separation agreements, and protective orders. He has extensive trial experience, but also adheres to the belief that families are generally better served - and his counsel is particularly effective - when disputes are resolved outside the courtroom. Joseph is originally from Pittsburgh and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He later received his Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University Law School. While in law school, he participated in the Domestic Relations Legal Clinic, providing legal services to clients in uncontested divorces, and was president of the Black Law Students Association. Prior to attending law school, Joseph held various management positions with several professional associations in the Washington, D.C. area, and studied intermediate American Sign Language at Northern Virginia Community College. He has also dedicated time to community service, volunteering at several local organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. Joseph is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Fairfax Bar Association and has appeared in courts throughout Northern Virginia, including Alexandria, Arlington, Clarke, Fairfax, Frederick, King George, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Winchester.
