Katharina Kreye Alcorn

Ms. Alcorn is a partner with the firm. When she was promoted to ‘Of Counsel’ in 2013 she was named Chair of the firm’s Medical Cost Containment Section. Ms. Alcorn is widely considered a subject matter expert in the specialized field of medical cost containment in both workers’ compensation and liability contexts. Ms. Alcorn leads a team of attorneys and staff dedicated to zealous representation of employers, insurers, and claim administrators in cases involving medical bill payment disputes. Ms. Alcorn is routinely invited by employers, insurers, and claim administrators to train their employees regarding the complex statutory framework associated with handling and resolving medical cost containment claims. In addition to her work with medical cost containment, Ms. Alcorn also serves as defense counsel in Heart-Lung Presumption claims and auto liability cases. Ms. Alcorn was selected as special counsel for the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as several municipalities across the state. Ms. Alcorn has successfully argued cases before numerous Circuit Courts across the Commonwealth, the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Court of Appeals of Virginia, as well as the Supreme Court of Virginia. In addition, Ms. Alcorn served as lead defense counsel in a jury trial that resulted in a defense verdict. Ms. Alcorn single handedly uncovered and investigated several medical providers for improper medical billing in workers’ compensation cases. Based on her hard work and preparation, clients were able to save thousands of dollars of improper medical bills. Ms. Alcorn is an active member of the Richard Bar Association and the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association.
