Michael W. Helm

Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley, Michael has dedicated his practice to helping members of the community, whether resulting from a simple traffic ticket or providing guidance to local governments. After graduating from JMU and then attending Penn State University for law school, Michael returned to the Valley in 2007 where he joined the law firm of Miller, Earle & Shanks. After becoming a partner in 2012, Michael expanded his practice from criminal defense and personal injury matters, to representing local governments and engaging in complex civil litigation matters. These days, Michael has experience in many areas of the law, whether it’s criminal defense, civil litigation, formation and representation of business entities, landlord/tenant disputes, personal injury, municipal law, or zoning enforcement. This experience allows him to provide deeper insights and assistance to ensure that you obtain not only the assistance you need, but also the understanding of what to expect throughout the process.
